Commit To Fit

Registration Open for the Commit to Fit!  3-Ton Healthy Weight Loss Challenge

The 3-Ton Healthy Weight Loss Challenge will be an 8-week individual challenge from January 2nd - February 29th, 2012.  Did you see the billboard on I-75?
Every year, most of us make a New Year's Resolution about our personal health that can be difficult to keep - Commit to Fit! will help to change that by uniting all individuals in Genesee County to reach a common, cumulative goal: total 3 Tons of healthy weight loss together in two months. Join today for a chance at the following incentives:

  • $1,000 to be awarded in cash prizes for individuals who simply register and enter a weight at the beginning and end of the challenge - that's it!
  • An additional $1,000 will be awarded in a cash prize drawing for participants who lose 3 or more pounds.
  • Participants who enter their weight each week on www.commit-2-fit.org will be entered into a drawing for fitness memberships to Genesys Athletic Club, Hurley Health & Fitness Club, and the UM-Flint Recreation Center!

As a part of the challenge, Commit to Fit! will also sponsor 10 fitness and nutrition classes - these will be free to challenge participants and anyone who attends just 3 of these classes will receive their own personal Commit to Fit! re-useable tote / grocery bag and a $5 gift card to the Flint Farmers' Market.

See additional detail via the 3-Ton Healthy Weight Loss Challenge Flyer (click here) or by visiting the "My Challenges" page on www.commit-2-fit.org (click here).

Pool Renovation Ideas

Fanning-Howey architectural firm was asked to send some actual pictures of indoor school pools that they had actually redesigned and refurbished in the state of Michigan.  Attached are some photos taken from their completed projects at: Dearborn School District, Huron Valley School District, Milan Area Schools, Northville Public Schools, Pike Township, Spring lake Public Schools, and Warren City School District. Many of the shots incorporate the open structural ceiling approach with “tube lighting” that the FH architects recommend we use if we decide to proceed with a pool renovation project.
